VidGet Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 2, 2026

VidGet respects your privacy and is committed to protecting personal information. This policy explains how we may handle information when you visit the VidGet website, use the VidGet desktop software, or contact us, as well as the choices and rights available to you.

If you do not agree with this policy, stop accessing the website or using VidGet. Third-party websites and services accessed through VidGet process information under their own privacy policies and are not governed by this policy.

1. Scope

This policy applies to the official VidGet website, the VidGet desktop software, and the support and feedback services we provide. The current website does not require account registration and does not offer online purchases or payment processing.

2. Information We May Process

Depending on how you use the services, we may process the following limited information:

  • Technical access data: When you visit the website, hosting services may automatically log your IP address, browser type, operating system, access time, requested pages, referring page, and error logs to deliver, secure, and troubleshoot the website.
  • Local preferences: The website uses browser local storage to remember your light or dark theme preference. This remains on your device and can be removed by clearing site data.
  • Support and feedback information: When you voluntarily email us or submit feedback, we receive the email address, message, attachments, and troubleshooting details you choose to provide.
  • Application and device information: Diagnostic information you voluntarily provide for troubleshooting may include the VidGet version, operating-system version, device architecture, error category, and related logs. Review and remove anything you do not wish to share before submitting it.

The current website does not use advertising trackers or third-party website analytics. If we introduce new features that process personal information, we will update this policy and obtain consent where required by law.

3. Local Files, Links, and Download History

Under VidGet's current local-first design, downloaded files, task records, file paths, and related content are managed by your device. Unless you voluntarily include them in a support request or feedback, we do not actively collect or store downloaded files, complete video links, video titles, thumbnails, task history, or local file paths.

To analyze a link or download content, VidGet may need to connect directly to the source website. That website may receive your IP address, device or application network identifiers, request time, and requested resource address, and may process them under its own privacy policy. Review the relevant third-party policy before use.

4. How We Use Information

We use information only where reasonably necessary to:

  • provide, maintain, and protect the website and VidGet software;
  • remember the interface theme you select;
  • respond to inquiries, handle feedback, and troubleshoot technical issues;
  • detect and prevent fraud, misuse, security incidents, or unlawful activity;
  • improve product stability, compatibility, and user experience; and
  • comply with applicable law and protect legitimate rights.

We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not use your downloaded content for targeted advertising.

5. Local Storage and Cookies

The current website uses local storage to remember theme preferences and does not rely on cookies for that feature. Hosting, security, or network infrastructure may use essential technologies to support sessions, security, and service reliability. You can review, restrict, or clear cookies and local storage in your browser settings. Clearing them may reset preferences such as your selected theme.

6. Disclosure and Service Providers

We disclose necessary information only in the following circumstances:

  • to service providers that supply website hosting, network security, email, or technical support, and only as needed to perform those services;
  • to comply with legal process, regulatory requirements, or legally binding government requests;
  • to protect the rights, property, and safety of VidGet, users, rights holders, or the public; or
  • as part of a lawful merger, acquisition, restructuring, or asset transfer, subject to continued protection by the recipient.

Service providers may process information in different countries or regions. Where required by applicable law, we use contractual or other reasonable safeguards for such processing.

7. Retention and Security

We retain personal information only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy. Support emails and related records are generally kept until the issue is resolved and for a reasonable follow-up period. Technical logs are retained according to reasonable security, troubleshooting, and hosting needs. Legal obligations, dispute resolution, security protection, or enforcement of rights may require longer retention.

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate to the nature of the information to protect it against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or loss. However, internet transmission and electronic storage cannot be guaranteed to be completely secure. Protect your devices, accounts, and files, and avoid sending unnecessary sensitive information in support requests.

8. Your Choices and Rights

Depending on applicable law where you live, you may have the right to request access to, correction or deletion of, or restrictions on the processing of your personal information; object to certain processing; withdraw consent; or obtain a portable copy of your information. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority.

To make a privacy request, email support@vidget.cc. We may need to verify your identity to prevent unauthorized action. We will respond within the period required by applicable law. We may be unable to delete information immediately where retention is legally required.

9. Children's Privacy

VidGet is not directed to children under 14, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If your jurisdiction sets a higher minimum age, that local requirement applies. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.

10. Changes and Contact

We may update this policy to reflect changes in our products, technology, or legal requirements. The revised policy will be posted on this page, and the date above will be updated. Where a material change requires separate notice or consent, we will follow applicable law.

For questions about this policy or VidGet's information practices, email support@vidget.cc.
